What we liked about the Rosewill 1800W Induction Cooktop

The program function buttons have a picture display for making it easy to visualize the function.

There are two heating zones which give freedom to use different sized cookware. The minimum size of the heating zone is 4 inches in diameter and maximum size being 10 inches in diameter.

It has a touch sensor control panel which makes the cooking process quite smooth and easy. The LED display is quite large and has four digits making it easy to read.

The vast temperature ranges ensure control while cooking. 1800w offers speedy heating. One can play around with different temperature and power settings for different cuisines.

The control panel is placed towards the bottom of the surface with no ridges or crevices on the cooktop making it very easy to clean and operate. The various cooking feature buttons are easy to understand

It fulfills the safety compliance of ETL/FCC

The lid along with the stainless steel pot is quite helpful in preventing food spills on the surface of the cooktop.

A test magnetic strip is included in the purchase making it easier to check cookware in your kitchen for compatibility with induction.

The timer mode allows one to focus on other things while cooking. After the desired time duration has passed, the cooktop beeps and goes into standby mode. This prevents unnecessary wastage of energy and takes care of your dish for you stopping all functions.

The stainless steel pot looks elegant and can work as a hot pot to keep the food warm before serving. Just leave the pot on the induction after cooking and power off.

What’s Not So Great About the Rosewill Induction Cooktop

The stainless steel pot is extremely thin and causes burn marks on the base of the cookware.

The control panel is too near the cooking zone and the buttons are quite near to each other. There can be possibilities of pressing wrong functions in a hurry.

Also, being near to the cooking zone, there are high chances of hot liquid or food spilling on the touch-sensitive buttons and changing the settings.

The fan can get a bit noisy while it works during the cooking process.

The cord length is short. It does not give many options to move the induction around.

As the induction system has a complex system beneath the cooktop, any attempt to repair can be dangerous and can damage both the user and the cooktop. It requires professional assistance which can be quite costly.

As the portable induction is compact, it becomes difficult to maintain a minimum distance of 1 foot to avoid EMF according to ICNIRP.

It does not have automatic cookware detection and does not switch off by itself.

Residual heat indicator or “cool” indicator is unfortunately missing. You have to rely on time and test method to check whether the cooktop has cooled down for cleaning and storing away.

There is no pause button and no delay cooking button. This means cooking cannot be paused in between or delayed for a certain duration to start at a later date. All these smart functions help in cooking big time. They are like a best friend helping you out to complete your cooking.

How Rosewill Induction Cooktop works

Place the compatible cookware in the center of the heating zone. Insert the plug into the socket. A beep will sound after which press the on/off key in the control panel. The LED display will lighten up. After this, press the desired cooking mode key to start the operation. At any point to stop the cooking and take it back to standby, press the on/off key once.

Each of the pre-programmed function modes has its own default power or temperature range. For example, if you press hotpot mode, an embedded default power of 1200w displays. To increase or decrease just press the + or the – button key.

Similarly, if you press fry or stir fry function mode, a default temperature of 424F displays on the LED. To set the desired temperature just press + or – keys to increase or decrease the temperature.

In case of choosing warm milk and soup however, the display shows AU. This means the induction will work under default power/temperature level which cannot be adjusted. For soup, the default power level is 1400w and for warming milk, the default temperature level is 150 F.

You can select a specific cooking time when a specific cooking mode is selected. Press the timer key after which display will show blank. Press the + and – keys to reach the required time. The + key will set the minutes and – key will set the hours. The timer can be adjusted from one minute to two hours and fifty-nine minutes.

After the required time duration has passed, the cooktop will beep and return to standby mode signaling the end of cooking.

For pre-programmed slow cooking like making soup, the timer can be adjusted from 1 minute to 23 hours and 59 minutes. This feature can also be used for making broths or stews which require slow cooking.

An important thing to remember is to choose the correct type of cookware in order for induction system to work. Iron, cast iron, enameled cast iron, and stainless steel work best. A good method to check is to place a magnet near the base of the cookware. If it sticks, it is good enough for cooking on induction.

The cookware should be flat and have a minimum diameter of 4 inches and a maximum of 10 inches (26 cms). Take care not to place the cookware with a bang on the cooktop.

The stainless steel pot that comes along with this induction should be handled with care. Place it carefully in the center of the ring. Take care never to keep it empty while the induction is on. Once the cooking is complete, let the cookware cool down before removing food and starting the cleaning process. The stainless steel pot can also work as a hot pot to keep the food warm until serving.

Take care not to clean the stainless steel pot or the induction with hard abrasives. That can create scratches. Always remove the cord and wait for the cooktop to cool. Use a soft cloth and a specialized liquid or soap solution following by a dry wipe. Never immerse or clean under running water. Remember it is an electronic device after all. For hard residues, used a specialized scrapper at a 45-degree angle. It is a good idea to keep a lid on the cookware during cooking to avoid leakage or spillage. It is best to use spoons which are not ferromagnetic during cooking.

If you are going somewhere and you don’t need the cooktop for a while, it is best to cover it up and store. This will increase the life of the cooktop and the pot. Always dry both with a dry cloth before storing.

Conclusion

This compact black design soon becomes a necessity. Who needs all the gas fumes, patience, long cooking hours when Rosewill induction is around.

With a balance of high and low power setting, you can cook almost anything. It saves energy and time. Timer setting helps one to gauge time for time-specific dishes. Timer setting is also helpful to prevent under and overcooking.

One feature that it lacks and would be appreciated if they add to their future inductions is child lock. It’s an absolute must to prevent accidental changing of settings leading to damage of cookware and cooktop. Children can mess around the big way. A one time shooing away does not work.

Its either of the two- the long tedious process of keeping an eye while cooking or having a safety feature of child lock which when operational will take of your dish.

Rosewill induction also lacks some smart features which aid in the cooking process like delay, cookware detection, pause, wifi enabled etc.

However, Rosewill induction cooktop delivers what many cooktops only promise to offer- Elegant, beautiful black design, top class quality, reliability along with the most cherished asset- Value for money.
